Course Students Experiment

Why does an apple float in water while a pear sinks? Why does a towel dry you better after being washed rather than before? Why is a polar bear white?

These and other interesting questions are explored by our young scientists in three different age groups; 2nd and 3rd grades, 4th and 5th grades, and 6th and 7th grades.

The goal of the course is a mini-competition modeled on the German “Jugend forscht / Schüler experimentieren” and the American “science fair”, composed of a written report and a presentation before a jury.

In order to participate students must execute their project idea by designing their own experiments, observing and analyzing the results. By researching a topic thoroughly they will learn much about physics, chemistry and biology in every day life and how to address a scientific question as part of a team over a long period of time.
